<HAR> - EUROPE

This European agreement on mutual recognition of test results comprises the following countries.

Austria

Italy

Belgium

Netherlands

Denmark

Norway

Finland

Portugal

United Kingdom

The agreement covers plastic or rubber insulated cables or cords complying with the CENELEC harmonized standards.  The agreement implies that the cable is type-tested in one of the member countries (primary testing), normally in the manufacturer's home country.  Further, the manufacturing site shall be inspected and a contract about regular inspection and follow-up testing be signed.  The manufacturer shall have a valid quality system according to EN 29001 or EN 29002.  If all requirements are fulfilled, a so-called HAR license will be issued and  the cable or cord may be marked to indicate meeting the <HAR> requirements.

Alternatively, the cable or cord may be provided with a black-red-yellow thread, in conformity with the allocation assigned to Sweden, i.e. 1 cm black, 1 cm red, and 5 cm yellow.  Other color coding for other countries.

The HAR license gives the manufacturer of the cable or cord the right to mark the product without further formalities in all the countries that have signed the
HAR Agreement.
